Comments:
Wow! - What wonderful - and unexpected - conditions in this years CQWW,
especially 10 m was a big surprise. We entered this year - once again -
with a multinational team with our good ham friends from Germany, and
what a great experience that was as we were better prepared than
previously, but yet we decided relatively late in the contest to
change our entry into the new Multi/2 category, as it gave a a lot more
life in the shack - and prevented the second operator from falling
asleep.
It was also a noisy week-end - not only on the bands - but also with
the many curious visitors, who stopped by to see what these guys with
the big antennas were up to...
There is still plenty of room for improvement, especially on the low
bands, but compared to earlier years we are quite satisfied with this
years result, as we only had few break downs in the course of the
contest - and it was mostly the computers this time - almost everything
worked really well, including the catering, Thanks to the girls in the
kitchen!
We used:
2 x Yaesu FT 1000, Mark V
2 x Acom 1 KW Amplifiers
1 Sommer 10 elm. Log Periodic for the high bands @ 30m
1 FB-53 for the high bands @ 8m
1 3 elm. full size 40 m Beam @ 21m
1 inverted L antenna for 80 m
1 shortend Ground Plane for 160 m
... and a 173 m long beverage towards North America
2 kg of Coffee
15 l of Coca Cola
lots of chocolate
... and a giant pot of chilli
Thanks to everybody that stopped by
