Comments:

I hadn't even planned on operating this contest, but with conditions so nice all
week, I decided to do another 10M single band operation. Friday morning was
super to Europe from here in SW New Mexico, and Asian signals were great that
evening at the beginning of the contest. But........over night the high solar
activity made any EU run impossible, and only the strongest stations were heard
at all through the noise. Quite disappointing in the western U.S. when you can
hear the east coast stations having a good EU run, and you can't even hear them
out here! Oh well......it was much better to EU on Sunday morning, although it
was still impossible to get a good run going, so opted for the dreaded S & P for
multipliers. It was pleasantly surprising to hear 5R8FU call me Sunday morning
for my only zone 39 Q as well as HS0ZCG call me with only 15 minutes to go for
my only zone 26 contact. All in all, it was quite fun to see so much activity
on 10M, and 33 zones from here in NM is not too shabby for a semi-serious
contester! I really doubt we'll see this kind of conditions or activity in the
ARRL 10M contest next month. We can only hope!
