It is now official:  The Cocos Island Development Board has
approved funding for a permanent ham radio station on West
Island in order to attract more hams to the islands.

Cocos is a great place for ham radio and arguably the best 
location for CQWW in Oceania.  Friendly people, relaxed 
lifestyle and a variety of activities to distract from ham
radio...
