Comments:

We plan ahead here.
45 minutes prior to start I find a spot and start digging in with cq’s.
Always tiring, but worth while to have a calling freq when contest starts.
One minute prior to start the BIG DAWG from K9 sets down on top of me.
Guys , there ain’t no super station within 1000 miles with FB so good
he ain’t hearing WD5R when the BIG DAWG is doing 30 over.
This ain’t no ‘changing band’ condition,
This is the ‘two headed alligator’ set’n down any darn place he likes.
Well, even this old guy is smart nuff ta know
that if Ah wants ta enjoy the contest,
Ah gots ta move on.

Even with a two hour break, I did ok first night with around 890 qso’s.

Saturday evening, another early start.
Found a spot on low end, gave one or two cq’s and found I had
planted myself about two cycles below K5GO.
Folks, it ain’t good to move in that close to any big signal,
And it’s double bad ta get that close to a good friend.
Moved on.

Got most of the easy ones first night,
so had to start dig’n second evening.
Found myself having to dig for too many weak signals.
Around 8pm, when the static crashes started building ,
I decided Ah had a better offer upstairs.

Got up little before daylight, tuned around,
found NL7Z deep in the mud,
What a pleasure for us to get him on first call!

Hey, even an old guy can do a full Stew Perry!!

n5ect on the key
