Comments:
Well, congrats to all the high scores out there.
>From all the past contests the last month I had planned a limited effort for
this one. Friday night band seemed in real good shape. I started out with good
freq and rates for the first 1 1/2 hours. Then I was put of Daddy duty. Got back
on about 01:00. Was great to hear all the MWA stations on, worked 65 from Mn. I
was called by a few DX stations, VP2E and XE1KK. I S&P for a bit and seemed to
work most stations with one call. I even heard and worked ON4UN that was fun.
Europe for me here is very rare. That was the only Europe I worked. Was great to
work KL7 and KH6 both on Friday night. I think first time in years that I have
worked both those sections in the same 160 contest. So all I needed was
Org,Wcf,NL,Nt,Mb for the sweep. I really thought it might be possible.
Sunday evening I had a few things going on with the family. Went to Orchestra
Hall to hear Don Irwin and after that dinner and watched the Hollie Dassle
parade in downtown Minneapolis. So I didn't get back on till about 01:30. Was
hoping for Dx but with noise not much. Worked for about 1 1/2 hours then bed
time for the kids. Then back at it around 04:00. I was surprised that I didn't
have Sdg, but then many called in. And I got called by 3 or 4 Nl stations that
was great. Thanks to Bill K4XS called in from Wcf. So all I needed was Mb and
NT. Thanks to Derrick VE4VV for calling in. I was just shy the Nt. Well I stayed
up till.10:57 utc Sunday morning , mostly CQ'ing with some S&P, no Nt. So only
79 sections for me. Very happy with that for limited antennas. Another neat
thing was my 80 meter cage dipole had only 3:1 swr with no tuner on 160, so I
used the tuner and loaded that up as well, worked as a great Rx antenna, real
quiet. Saturday night the noise was allot higher with static crashes, made it
hard at times to hear the weak ones.
Again thanks to all that called in and those that could hear me, and put up with
me trying to hear them.
DX worked: 6Y,PY,TI,ON4,XE,ZF,P40,KV4,NP4,KL7,KH6. I know a few are sections but
on 160 they are like Dx hi. I spent about a half hour on KH6ZM Friday night then
Sunday night there was KH6/N6KB very loud, boom one call. I managed to worked 2
of every mult except Ak and the DX stations.
I think I operated about 18-20 hours Not sure, but looks that was from the rate
sheet. Best hour was a 82 followed by 71.
see u all next time.
