Comments:

I had planned on more or less taking the weekend off from contesting. I
worked dayshift over the weekend which worked out well for operating time
but definitely added to the fatigue factor and precluded any late nights.
Once I started running well, it was hard to stop, so more time than
 expected was put in.
I started about 2300Z after preparing and having dinner with the family
and found 4U60UN in the window worked for a new country while I was
really calling someone else down 300 Hz. It was a bit anticlimatic
however, after finding and working 8Q7DV the night before the contest.
Caribbean sigs were strong, but not plentiful and Eu was weak and scarce.
I settled into a nice run and had 119 Q's by 24Z running low in the band.
The Rocky mtn/West coast started coming thru even before their sunset with
some pretty good sigs. I stopped for th night with 269 Q's.
The next morning I found NP4A, VE9HF, and ran WMa to complete all
sections East of the Mississippi except KV4FZ found Saturday evening.
There wasn't much DX, but VK6HD heard my first call in the window thru
his summer static while here he was just above the noise. There was no
competition, I was QSO # 2 for him.
Saturday evening, I had likely the best rate ever for the 2nd day of
a 160 test, starting around 2130Z. Sunset is about 2147 and by then the
W9's were booming in like the sun was down there and many W0's were worked
as well, 22Z rate was 88/hr. Condx to Eu were below a normal night, but
some of the far western USA guys were exceptionally loud including
K7CA from UT before or at their sunset and thru til 02Z when I ran out
 of gas.
Sunday morning, I worked 0 mults in the 11Z hour. KH6ZM was heard, but
pulling them out slowly thru a big pile-up. Quite a few W7's did answer
CQ's, but signals were actually better between 00-02Z the evening before.
I missed some fairly easy sections including ID, EWA, SCV, and SDG, but
did work all the VE's except MB and NT and was pleased with 70 for the
 limited effort.
Thanks for stopping by to give me a Q. I expect some really big
numbers from the front runners. Activity seemed to be up. It looks like
SMC had a big turnout this time, but hopefully PVRC did as well. I
 worked quite a few PVRC'ers.
