Well, as the old saying goes: 'The Best Laid Plans..."

I had it all worked out, so I thought. The plan to finally break 40 Q's.

Get back from a real estate appointment in time to fix the Cajun Salmon I bought
the night before, have a glass of wine or two, and be in-the-chair well in
advance of the NS.

When I left my appointment and got in the SUV, I freaked when I saw the time,
and first guesstimate was I would not get home until 0235 Zulu...and no dinner.
Yes, I somewhat put-the-pedal-to-the-metal. Rolled into the driveway at 0229Z.
Rushed into the house, flipping on the equipment heading for a glass of wine (my
2nd op :-) Figured I would spill it all over, so grabbed a bottle of Diet Pepsi
out of the Refrig. That's when I heard 'VA3NR' being sent and I knew the
Checkered Flag had already dropped.

I just hate 'rushing' into anything, but jumped in the chair and had at it. Last
week, I had 5 Q's in the first 2 minutes. This time, 1st QSO at 0231. Things
were not looking good.

My timing to take swigs of the soda didn't work too well and endedup QLFing way
too many callsigns on the keyboard. Mega apologies, guys.

Attempted SO2R OJT with the 2nd radio on 40m, but 3 or 4 times that lasted only
a few seconds 'cuz my brain would not take it...I was still too wired up from
rushing back home.

Condx to 5 land were hot. Everytime I turned around it seems there was K5NZ,
K5PTC, N3BB and KG5U. I think WD0T ended up in my log with more Qs than anyone
else (TNX, Todd). Sorry for the several times I think I called out-of-sync with
what was going on.

Jim, N3BB posted: 'Loudest here: K6XX, N6RO, and K6-Locust (aka K6VVA).'

HA! That was my NVIS signal to Texas, 'cuz the East Coast just wasn't happening
well tonight. Never made a Q on 40m, and K6XX was my ONLY California QSO.
K4BAI, K8AJS and others were not too strong tonight (never could work AJS this
time, and with no Qs on 40m, missed K7NV).

Got close to my 40 Qs goal in spite of things, but Mults totally sucked (I had
15 last week). Still, a LOT of fun, and TNX again to all of you who showed up

Fellow NCCCers N6RO & K6XX really kicked-butt with 55 QSOs each. Later on the
NCCC Net, I issued a challenge for both of them to make 73 Qs in one of the NS
events. They both claimed maybe 60, but I now have an Unofficial Award on the
table to both of them if they can hit 66 Qs...a pitcher or beer or a litre of
wine at one of the club meetings.

If more folks show up in the remaining NS events, I'll bet Ken & Bob will make
it. And I'm gonna keep plugging away for 40 Qs from this NVIS LPCS!
