I am dreaming of a software solution which could be as simple and as
reliable as my homebrew PA: i.e you warm-up 5mn before contest put the
knobs on the noted values and don't worry until the end (and it works
like this for about 15years, with the same pair of second-hand tubes)
Definitely not the case with N1MM-logger... Think than more than one
would have given-up... not me, though each QSO was a kind of new,
challenge, as I had to check that sent time was correctly logged, and
would match the sent UTC.
I even survived to the "rescore-trap" (resetting all sent-times) and to
several crashes due to incoming spots (thanks to my MDB backup).
Sorry for being a bit slow (best hour 45) but I had to enter everything
from keyboard, and do some qso data checking/edition between each one...
No need to say that I could not really benefit from SO2R in those
conditions. Also apologize if I spotted you on a wrong band...
My objective was 1000Q's, but with software slowing-me down and 15m
completly dead to states on saturday, I failed...
No doubt that EU-activity suffered from the increasing popularity of
the Russian-DX. 15 and 20 were in very good shape to JA both days, and
I thought I might end-up with more JA than W's, but finaly 15m opened
to states on sunday and even allowed to work the 10 call-areas.
Finaly not as bad as it could have been ! Thanks all the QSO's and see
you in URE-test in 2 weeks.
