Comments:

Decided at the outset to enter the Russian DX Contest, which was on at the same
time as this one...Wish now I had have stuck with this one!! It was fun while
the bands cooperated, but 11 hours doesn't allow much of a score...I was going
to only do a SO 20 metre effort, but then I realized that I had to enter the
Expert category, which is SOAB only...I'm sure I'll be at the bottom of the
bunch with that crowd!!

I know RTTY contesting is really just beginning to become popular with the
masses, and that is GREAT, but MANY stations really need to shorten their
exchanges and become more efficient...It's frustrating in the middle of a nice
run to have to wait for a station to repeat everything 10 times, while others on
frequency are getting impatient and leaving because of the wait...PLEASE, just
send the required information once or twice...I'll ask for repeats if I need
them...I only need to see your call a couple times, and I know my call and name,
so I don't need it 10 times...I like the friendliness of RTTY contests and
contesters, but unduly long exchanges waste time and hurt scores for those of us
who like to be competitive...I've noticed a great improvement in this issue in
the last year or so though, and I expect it will get better as people get motre
used to RTTY contesting...

Thanks to ZL2AMI for the 6th continent near the closing hours...He is usually
LOUD here, but it was even a struggle to get him in the log, and my only 10
metre QSO...Conditions were terrible for the most part, except for 20 metres and
40m on Sun evening which was productive from this QTH for a couple hours...Also
enjoyed a brief 1 hour opening into JA land on 20 Sun evening, which was a nice
surprise, and netted 7 otherwise written off mults...No sign of any VK'ers at
all...Where were all the VE's ? Seemed scarce...

80 metres was very noisy here Sun evening, but I banged away at it for awhile to
try and up the mult count...Not much luck...15 opened for a bit Sun
afternoon...

Almost got caught by the 5 minute band change rule a couple times, but I think I
avoided it...My apologies to the 2 stations I had to abruptly abort QSO's with,
when I realized I was jumping to fast...

73, and CU in the next one...

Scott VE1OP
