Comments:
I wasn't sure we'd have enough operators, with people looking toward Memorial
Day plans, but eventually enough people showed up to keep at least one station
always on, and the second station manned for more than half the time, especially
the morning opening to Europe.
The A and K indexes had been falling nicely before the contest, and 40m
delivered some great contacts despite thunderstorm noise. 20m was open around
the clock, and 15m stayed open much longer and wider than usual. These good
conditions, and our hard work, made it possible to beat last year's score by
Sunday morning, and after that our goal was to reach 5 Million points.
Our top countries for contacts were the US (934), followed by JA (526), followed
by VE's (114). Our rate was never very high, but just continued on and on, with
very little drop off on the second day.
New to our station was operator Yuichi N2YM/JN2MRJ who seemed to fit right in
and easily handled the complexity of our setup (and the complexity of our
instructions on where to jump for the next contact).
