Comments:
I didn't feel particularly weak at 100 watts - I held it to that to protect the
bandpass filters in the new SO2R setup, which worked almost flawlessly
My problem with Sweepstakes is simple ennui. When I lived in a townhouse, SS
was the one contest that I could do decently in, even given low power and a
simple antenna. Now that I have a good station, I get incredibly frustrated
when things aren't going well, as they weren't Saturday night. The difference
is that this time I asked myself, "If it isn't fun, why are you doing it?" and
went to bed about 0430Z.
I spent a few hours on Sunday testing N1MM's "dueling CQs" and SO2R options.
The former, in particular, really works well. I found myself working alternate
QSOs on both radios and literally not knowing which radio I had worked a given
station on, until the QSO was over and I could see the QSO in the log - now
THAT's seamless.
