This represents a really fine effort by the operators at NQ4I...best team ever
assembled...thanks to those who came a long way to participate...W7FB flew in
from Missouri...N4GI rode his motorcycle up from the Tampa area, VE7ZO drove in
from a road trip from VE7 land...N4OX flew in from the Fla panhandle, W4SVO
drove up from Central Fla, KA6SAR flew in from Sou Calif, K4BAI drove up from
Columbus area, and locals AC4CA and K2UFT...No equipment failures...but I am
having problems with two TIC Rings...they lose their indication calibrations
after a few hours of use...by the end of the contest they were over 90 degrees
off?? Our biggest thrill was working 8Q7DV at 2:15pm local in the afternoon on
40m and then just an hour later working them on 80m!! There was 3 more hours of
daylight left!! I have been plagued with some computer lock-ups...not really
sure what is happening there either...
Our scores as a M-M have been getting closer and closer with the top 3 scores in
the category...I continue to improve the station equipment, and now better
operators are joining us...the results are obvious...I still have some
improvements in receiving antennas that will allow either station to hear when
the other is sending...
Many personal best were observed this past weekend by many of the operators...it
is really satisfying to see the station start to perform at its potential....we
are looking forward to ARRL CW and WPX SSB next...to all who worked
