Comments:

Family committments kept me from putting in a full effort but I now wish I had
sent them off to Portland for shopping, conditions were pretty good.

Low band noise was pretty bad Friday night. Ten meters never opened to anywhere
but LU. Happened past HC8N as he was moving someone to 10m and snagged him there
for my only six bander. Never heard a W, a JA or a VE on 10m.

I could hear several other Oregon stations, most notably K7RAT on 80m who was
working things that I could only dream of hearing, and W2VJN who cleans my clock
no matter how hard I try.

The packet idiots were legion - guys calling on the right frequency but not
being able to hear who they were calling, or the AJ2 who could not copy when the
dx says W6??. Those guys make for a long day. I sure hope CT3EN was in zone 33
because I could not understand what he sent - perhaps "ennuu" at 50 wpm.

Missed zone 2. Guess nobody wanted to go to Goose Bay, including me.

The water-cooled solid state amp performed well. It's fun to be able to switch
bands in 20ms! While I was not really SO2R, the other rig was listening on
another band while the main rig was CQing. If I found something new to work I
did a band change with the main rig since it was instantaneous. Lots of exercise
for the bandswitch relays. The next step will be to add SO2R capability to the
amp's rf switching and design the amp's control logic so it will accept two
transceivers' band switch and T/R info. Might get that done by ARRL DX
...2007.

73, Dick
