Conditions pretty bad -- left 20M after just 6 Qs. K4BAI had the biggest
signal on the tribander nested down at 30'.

40M wasn't in great shape either, but I used tonight as a bit of a test for
the newly reinstalled backup Hygain 18AVT/WB 80-10 vertical. (It's been on a
fence post for 2 years with no radials. Now moved to middle of the
rectangular back lawn). Over the past two days, working very part time in
the heat and between T-storms, I've put down 22 radials ranging from 67' to
20', planning another 20 or so. May eventuall lose the trapped vert and just
hang 1/4-wave wires for 40 and 80, as the mounting plate is strategically
right under my catenary rope at 70'.

Early evening on 40M is usually a bust from here. Even tonight, I think a
few stations had trouble hearing me well (a few repeat requests). Still, the
vert managed 21x8 on 40M -- that's more Qs than any of this summer's NS
ladder nights (15x10 was my best when I was using the 2 element inverted-V
beam up at ~70'). Granted, we're not usually on 40M for 18 entire minutes,
hi.
