Comments:
Mark-V Field, Al-811 400watts, Butternut HF6V vertical, 160m inverted-L.
Lots of fun working the world with just a little stick of aluminum. Many
surprises - found some openings I wasn't expecting and broke some pileups where
I didn't think I had a chance. Managed a few 6-band sweeps.
Operator errors for me to correct next time:
- Took a nap to be fresh for European sunrise and sleep thru until it was almost
my sunrise. I'd guess it cost me at least 50Q's & a dozen mults?
- I made some mistakes with 10m. I did check 10 at every band change Saturday &
heard nothing. But Sunday I knew it was going to break open when the LU's were
starting to come in by 1630Z, then 8P9PA was S9++ at 1720Z. Nothing else to
work so I had a quick lunch break. When I got back there was lots more Caribean
on the band but the pileups were HUGE. With my station I should have just
waited to get the jump on the crowd. Figure about 10 lost mults there.
- 27 hours at the rig. Thats about my limit.
