Managed to improve score from 585Q/47,385 points last year. Made 4 more mults,
landing ME and NB in the final hour or so. Missed ND and DC, and a handful of VE
mults.

Didn't expect conditions to be as good as they were. 20M EU opening Sunday
morning was a bit rough, but about as good as last year's -- about 15 mults
there. Found 20m noisy Sunday afternoon (some Qs were ESP through the QRN), but
15m was quiet with loud signals. Go figure.

Power line noise was knocked down by heavy rain Saturday, but back for a while
Sunday morning. Local utility is flying in an expert later this month to track
down the problem and have it fixed. Slow process, but eventually it'll be
solved.

Contest prep included checking results from last year. I fell a bit short last
year, as I didn't stay in the chair long enough. Didn't make that mistake this
time -- I think I was in there for all the right openings, and changed bands at
the right times this year.

Given that I'm running 100w, the delta loop arrays on 80m and 40m felt strong.
Must be one of my best RTTY efforts on the lower bands -- had a blast on 40m
Saturday night, though the band went long quite early.

It took about 5 hours on 80m to match my Q total after just 2 hours on 40. 80m
didn't get going till rather late. Still, I was in bed around midnight PST and
got in a good long sleep.

With 15 minutes to go, I needed 2,000 points to break through the 70,000
barrier. Worked like mad calling on 40m, but couldn't get anything going.
Finished with a quick 2 minute S&P as CQ wasn't working; ended up about 8 Qs
shy.

There's always next year. More wires in the air = even more fun.
