Comments:
Our goal this year was to have fun and generate lots of points
for the Northern California Contest Club for the Club Competition.
To maximize points we shared the Stanford University location
with the ND2T operation, sharing antennas and swapping bands about once
an hour. Only one of us would have the "hot" band at any time, but the
two operations together produced far more points than one operation
could have alone. It also gave us some friendly competition to "keep ahead
of the the other guys" (we beat them in QSOs, they beat us in Mults and
score.)
Despite the sharing, we added 30 percent to our score this year compared
to last year, mostly by operating solidly all 24 hours,
and having a really great team of operators. We increased our QSOs on
every band but 10m. 10m was a wash-out, with never more than
a handful of stations heard.
The US and Canada was our bread-and-butter, with 86% of the QSOs.
Asia-Pacific was second, followed by Europe, South America and Africa.
Lots of new stations were worked who weren't in the database - Welcome!
We had problems with occassional dropout of the PTT, and had to pay
attention to quickly restart the message. Nothing we tried with the
computer, software, or interfaces fixed it, so we're beginning to think
its a problem with the radio. Sorry if we seemed to disappear and then
repeat ourselves to you..
