Comments:

Score includes 100 point bonus for copying the W1AW CW FD message at 10AM EST on
Saturday morning. Another FCG member (N4GI) and myself had great plans to ride
our motorcycles through 5 FLA counties and visit about 10 FD sites ... just as
we got to the first stop on our list, typical summer FLA "big" storms, and that
plan was washed away. It's been a LONG time since I've tried to "peel"
completely soaked blue jeans off! So as to not make it a total loss, I decided
to log another "Great Adventure from the Silverado Mobile" ... TS140 into
Hustler whips on a MO1 mast mounted on the bumper of the truck. It was fun,
but NOWHERE near the fun I had routed out for Blake and I visiting the FD sites
... we were looking forward to meeting alot of other FCG members for the first
time ... plus the planned lunch stop at the BayPort Inn ... the tastiest
Grouper Sandwich and Key Lime Pie to be found on the western Gulf side of the
state. The FCG sent our members to FD sites all across the state, and many
reports have come back that many "newcomers" were as excited as we all remember
being at OUR first Field Day. The GOTA station and GOTA COACH continues to be a
real "bonus" to the overall FD experience. Remember to reserve that "special"
park site well in advance next year so that your traditional SUPER FIELD DAY
doesn't have to become a "low key" event. Field Day is such a special "once a
year" event ... and everything we put into it really isn't for us "grizzlies"
... it's all about the one special youngster who will go home on Sunday
afternoon with a memory he or she will treasure throughout their future HAM
RADIO adventures forever.
73 from all of us in the FLORIDA CONTEST GROUP!
FRANK - K4EJ ( ex KA0GGI )
