Comments:

First off let me apoligize to those that heard me calling but were baffled as to
why I wasn't returning the effort. It seems that the Mark V Field had a bit too
much Field Day and I think that the receiver got done in. I could work (hear
stations on 40m and 80m but nothing above. At first I thought that it was a
'band condition thing' but when it carried over to the next morning (think I
read two chapters of War and Peace before I decided that there was a problem
and began investigations) and I finally pulled the plug.

The rig got boxed and sent off to Yaesu so we will see what the damage ($ as
well as electronically) turns out to be. When my wonderful wife asked why I
was up watching the World Cup instead of contesting, I told her that the rig
had died and I was out of commission. I think I missed a golden (albeit
expensive opportunity though) when she replied, "Well can't you just go down to
HRO and purchase a new one?" Gotta love her but I resisted the temptation.

WN6K, Paul
