The Q's shown on 24G were our satellite contacts

The Raytown Amateur Radio Club is a small club in suburban Kansas City. FD is
our biggest event of the year and we go about it competitively. We had great
accomodations with a 36 ft trailor from the city, the 36 ft Mobile Emergency
Response Operations Center trailor from the Missouri Dep't of Transportation,
a 26 ft Winnebago from KMØE, and a home built trailor from KCØDDZ - all
airconditioned. We set up in the 4 acre field behind City Hall and had nice
equipment and tri-band beams, verticals, slopers, beverage ant, and mono-band
beams on uhf/vhf.
A gulley-washer went thru Saturday afternoon but our stations never went down
even though the wireless network was taken out. A 40' tower threatened to go
over but hung in there although it leaned about 10 degrees. We got it
straightened up after the rain let up, and never stopped.
What a terrific FD!! Great fun. 20 and 40 were our big bands, and 6 meters
opened up sporatically. Everyone had great fun. Got a bunch of inactive hams
excited about operating on the GOTA station, and with the help of a coach, they
were very productive. One guy got his 100 contacts on the GOTA station and then
came back and spent some hours on the SSB station.
A great job by leaders KBØVVT on CW, KGØUS on SSB, KGØUT as coach on the
GOTA, ABØWA on uhf/vhf, and N8AU on the satellites.
C everyone in IARU - 73 de KØOU
