Rearranged my operating times to allow for some sleep or is it
that I rearranged my sleep time to allow for some operating ?
Bands seemed to be pretty fair except 10 which was virtualy
non-existant and 15 is really starting to
show where we are in the sunspot cycle !
As some have already noted it is difficult to
find and hold a run frequency .... fortunately for us up here we can
establish a run frequency by having an open band earlier than most of
North America and SSB band allocations where we can hide hi !

There are exceptions of course .... 40 meters being the ZOO it is ..
it is getting to be more frustrating and difficult to either establish
or maintain a run frequency. The first evening it is usually out of the
question and one has to force themselves to leave 20 on day one to get to
40 early to start working Europe before the band is completely divided.

Kudos to those who are forced to operate above 7.1 ... have never played
that game , but then I guess you're listening down into a quieter band
segment or is it ? I sure wouldn't want to be listening up into all that
40 over broadcast qrm !!

Load of 5 banders again seems this batch of Caribean ops were much smoother
than the last bunch ,,, there did not seem to be an aversion to giving their
calls more often...

however I have to relate this as I observed it ...
Quite Obviously a Caribean Newbee... it goes like this ... hi !

DX     =  qrz?
us/can = calling
DX     = aa?aaa  ur 59 500
us/can tks ur  59 state/prov
DX = Thanks for calling in good luck and 73
DX     =  qrz? ( no call )

MY immediate observation is ..... he feels now since now he is
" Big time" he needs to speed up the operation
by only signing every 10 Q's or so .
H'mmmmm Good thinking
however the expression " thanks for calling in good luck and 73"
takes up more time than giving the call ....obviously he wants to be polite...hi
!
Unfortunately when he gets the hang of it he will drop the greetings and
still only ID every ten Q's or so .... oh well dem's da breaks..
Guess I'm getting crotchety ....

Here are some stats the software generates.....cheeeeeese how did we ever
operate/log with paper and pencil ?

Had a few good dx stations call in on 20  a couple of VK6's , 9M2 ,8Q7
who were all well over the nine mark on my high hilltop dipole...which seemed
to outplay the lower loop array most of the time.
100 Centimeters of snow earlier this week
made any additional antenna work impossible.
Should have been no shortage of VO mults for this contest ... heard VO's VO1HE
VO1BC
VO1TA AND     vo1mx at VO1AU

Look forward to the ssb wpx when we plan to operate a multi two here for the
first time.

73 es thanks for all the QSOs
