Comments:

Really didn't know what to expect when I left for this trip.
Had never been to V4 before, and knew little about the setup.
Since Alex V47KP did not do the SSB contest, the station condition was
unknown.
We arrived to find some broken stuff like rotators and preamps, but managed to
fix everything. There was however some very strong line noise which could not
be fixed before the contest.

So my expectations were not too high, figuring the noise would kill me. When I
saw what a great QTH Alex has, I was very excited. What a view! The antennas
are only up 30 or 40 feet, but it doesn't matter. That QTH is fantastic.

Once I started, the pileups were huge, and nonstop. What a blast! I suppose the
line noise was there, but the conditions were so good I didn't notice.
Just a few times on 10 and 15mtrs when trying to hear weak stuff.

My goal was Tom 8P5A's score from last year (10.3M). When I saw it was
attainable, I stayed in the chair and operated through my fatigue. Didn't plan
on doing 48 hours, but couldn't find anytime to sleep!
As is customary, I fell asleep a few times at the key, and began sending my
dream on the air. I know somebody heard it because they were laughing at me.
If you are the one, please tell me what I said; I don't remember :).

Really pushed the mults at the end to break 12M. Too bad it won't survive log
checking, but very pleased anyway.

A big thanks to Alex W2OX/V47KP for coming down with me, helping me set up the
station and hanging around. Impossible to do without his help. Also thanks to
the locals V44KAI, V44KBP, and V44NK for their support.
K3NM for being part of the operation and building, having the forethought to
have a spare rotor there ready, and N2NC for the use of his FT1000MP, which
worked flawlessly.

Congrats to Jose CT3NT (love that call) and P40W for big scores.
And to all the others like 6W1RY, 8P5A, V26K, 6V7D, P49Y, A45XR, ZS4TX and
VE3DZ and all the others who perennially enter the single op category from the
DX side in the greatest contest of 'em all. It takes a lot of dedication to
travel and perform like that every year.
But especially PZ5ZY(N6ZZ) and P40T(N6AA) who have both done it from every zone
in the world, and gave P40W a run for his money to boot.

73, Andy N2NT
