Comments:

Sorry for delay to post to 3830 guys. Had some logging version issues, and
submitted score on time, but forgot to finish here. In addition, having to move
last week kind of put radio on the back burner temporarily.

Big thanks to Jay-KT5E and his family, for the hospitality and use of the
station on short notice. He has a really quiet location about 12 miles east of
Parker, and the station plays very well. And he graciously let me put my newly
acquired N0RK vanity call on-the-air, for the very first time. (Unfortunately,
many times over the contest I signed either WB0IWL, KT5E, W0MU, or NA7XX, in
error. Well, hopefully practice will make perfect!) This was my first serious
"single-op" effort in many years, and my lack of contest stamina and knowledge
of current propagation, and continuing rehab for a lower-back injury took their
toll. Lotzzz of cobwebs, and some really poor operating. (Just makes that #3 SS
SSB multi-op finish with W0MU at NA7XX last fall, feel that much better.) :)

Conditions were very hard to predict; 15 never really happened, 20 just
didn’t ever feel open, and 40 was terribly noisy. I actually had to take
off-time during a nearby lightning storm, and many of the low band QSOs were
really tough. I made my first-ever contacts on Top-Band; sorry to all those who
were calling me on 160, but I just couldn’t pull through. (Just hang on until
this fall.)

Thanks to all the Grand Mesa (GMCC) guys for their encouragement; I enjoyed
contributing to their score. Looking forward to many more club-related efforts
in the future. And congrats to my teammate, K0UK -- don’t let it happen again
Bill! And what a pair of ears that W0MU guy from the #1 Ski Bums team has.... he
was just pulling guys out of nowhere!

Hope to hear more old friends in the near future.

73,
Russ, N0RK
