Seemed 20M was going well, but on 40M my E-W half-square was shorted somewhere


I first lowered the antenna and swapped out the old run of coax feeding the
antenna, suspecting a dodgy connector on one end or another, but still no good.
I think the far-end vertical was touching the top of my chainlink fence...
raised the whole antenna a few feet higher and it works well with others once
again. Plus I have top-notch coax feeding it now. All this after quitting NS to
get out there before it was too dark to repair.

Only got in 15 Qs and 18 minutes. The EU-W6 half-square wasn't reaching the
bulk of stations on 40M. Oh well, better to find the failure points now than in
WPX CW, hi. Sure kills a rising average, though.
