Comments:
This was a part time/day time contest for me, but it was sure a lot of fun. I
think this is my favorite contest of the year! (Although I do say that about
most contests when they are over). The bands seemed to cooperate this weekend.
15M was a nice surprise, and 20M was open to Europe on Sunday morning.
I got my first Zone 2 contact this weekend and several new countries. I also
want to thank K6NA for two mults on 10 meters. My only other contacts on 10
were Hawaii and Argentina.
I used two PC monitors for the first time, and that sure made life easier. I
had the log on one screen, and the packet cluster, rates, mults. etc. on the
other. It cut down on screen clutter and helped keep me focused on what I
should be doing.
Rig: Elecraft K2/100. It worked flawlessly. I had hoped to have my K3 by
now, but in actuality I didn't miss it.
Antenna: Every one I owned was destroyed by the wind storm last month. I have
an MFJ-1798 vertical up until further repairs are made. I am sure I would have
done better with a beam, but this guy worked surprisingly well!
Software: Writelog -- love it!
Computer: Macbook Pro running windows XP. Microham micro Keyer interface.
73,
John, WA6L
