Comments:
I like the idea of short contests for single OP entries. By the way, it is funny
that you refer to a 12 hour contest as a "short" contest. It is still 1,5 times
the length of a regular working day - in a row... :)
This was my first try in EUHFC. Great activity from Eastern Europe! Besides the
usual big QSO numbers from Russia and Ukraine, 90 QSOs just from Lithuania made
the way into my log. Quite amazing compared to the country size...
I like the contest exchange as being the year of your first licence. It gives a
somehow "personal" note to the otherwise anonymous numbers. It is a thrill if
"old time" calls are calling in and you expect that this will be a rare
multiplier. After thanking a G station giving out an early 50s (and therefore
rare) multiplier, he laughed and said "and I have the grey hairs to go with
it...". "ODX" (sorry :-) was LY1BX with year "38" which is just amazing. On the
other end, there were some freshly licences station giving out "08". This makes
a difference of 70 years - all in one contest.
Hung out too long on 10m and 15m (the big disappointment) looking for the
non-existing conditions. After that, 20m was a relief and I got a good run on
phone. On 40m I struggled for finding a good spot (even on CW) - missed QSOs
and mults there. After that, 80m and 160m were a relief again and some stations
could be worked on the 5th band (LZ9R, UT5UGR, UY5ZZ) or 6th band (UT1IA).
Bottom line: Cool contest, I had big fun and left room for improvement :)
Thanks to all (old and young) OMs for the QSOs,
73 Chris DK9TN
