Comments:
W0UA and AA0RS did a fantastic job of operating in spite of the noisiest
conditions we have had here during a contest. We are all old friends so it was
great getting together for the contest. We decided to do it on Wednesday, but
the last minute decision didn't seem to hurt us. It sure was great to have 10
and 15 produce for a change.
This was our best score so far for an August event. The high bands were good
to us even with the arcing and sparking going on from static/thunder during the
afternoon. We were only able to use the lower beams in the stacks because we
had s-9 static with the upper ones in play. I'm sure we lost a lot of qsos
because we couldn't hear through all the pops ans snaps.
Forty, Eighty and 160 got progressively worse with s-9 plus static on 160, even
on the beverages. This is the only time I remember exclusively using beverages
to receive on forty. I know that there were layers of stations that simply
couldn't be heard on the beverages on forty, but there was no possibility of
hearing any but the loudest on the beams.
Thanks for all the Qs and see you next time.
73,
Chuck and the gang
