Comments:
Very good training for ears and motivation.
For 3 weeks, I am trying to fix a permanent 59+ all bands power line problem on
an insulator 300 feet from the tower, of course, in the direction of Europe.
Thursday a RFI guy of HydroQuebec came and made a fragile temporary fix,
waiting the construction team.
So, I thought I was lucky for this unexpected participation to the CW WAE this
WE.
Of course, Sunday night, the power line noise came back, stopping me for the
night, until noon when it stopped.
On Sunday afternoon, I had to nest the tower for half an hour because of
lightning all around.
During the 25 possible hours of participation, the high K index was competing
against the storm crunches to know which one is the worst.
So, thank you so much to all the European operators who had to repeat sometimes
more than 10 times their callsign or NR to give their weak signal the luck to
pass between two lightning crunches...And thank to some, like 9A/S53AU/P, to
make the training more challenging with their sophisticated callsign...
By the way, on 40m, I was never able to use the 2el beam for receiving. The
160m beverage was the only solution, and even on 20m, I sometimes had to listen
on the beverage.
Strangely, I have a pleasant recollection of this experience. Perhaps the fact
that I had time to sleep and that I finish very well rested.
The only fly in the ointment: I prefer never to know my UBN for this contest...
