Comments:

Murphy didn't want me to operate this one!

At 1900z Friday when I turned on the 2nd radio (IC-781) it blew up. I had it
on every day prior to Friday with no hint of problems. From 1930z to 2330z I
spent installing the backup 781 and trying to get the band decoded working and
the radio to communicate with the computer!! (Missed my nap and wondered if I
would run the contest).

At 0100z on 80 the run amp faults off at low power levels, later I discover
that the band decoder is changing bands as I transmit (not good for anybody), I
don't hear the relays because of noise cancelling headphones. I am never able
to get the amp to work on 80 again so had to always use the 2nd radio/amp
there.

Had a line noise problem (10 over S9) on 160 and 80, power guy says today it is
coming from 3 miles away and a different utility company.

New 40 meter system worked great (pair of 4 element OWA's).

New 80 m 4 Sq. worked great execpt for receive (see noise above). When I
operated below 3750 I had to manually change rx antennas to the yagi on every
transmission because of the noise problem. The 4 sq. covers from 3600 to 3800
as opposed to my yagi that only goes from 3750 to 3850.

A special thanks to John, N9FC for his countless days of antenna work here the
past few months. My new 195' tower (with 40M OWA's) and my new 4 sq. would not
have happened with out him being here almost daily.

Activity was sure great, thanks for all the rare mults and the expeditions!
Hope the sunspots cooperate a little more for next year to help 20 m out
during the day. It was enough to make one quit.

Been operating this contest for 33 years and not sure what I would do if I
could not operate. Thanks to CQ for a great one and lot's of memories.
