Comments:

This was the 2nd operating event for our newly formed Portland Radio Contester
Club, which caters to hams that want to explore this fun aspect of our hobby.
We had a nice crew of 8 operators: Kevin K7ZS, the club trustee, Sean KD7MSC,
Joe AD7XZ, Jim KI7Y, Jeff KE7NVY, Andy KE7AUB and Sergey KN7K. We operated
Multi-Two to give the club station a shakedown which has recently been upgraded
with a 2nd tower and all that goes with it, antenna switching, interstation
interference issues etc, networked computer logging etc. All went pretty well,
and the guys did a great job of helping us hold a 20 meter run frequency for 11
hours! Most of all, we had fun on a nice summer day.
Thanks to all that worked us, we need to work on our low band antennas next,
not that it would have helped kill the incredibly noisy bands. I am certain it
was worse in the midwest, as we heard many stations calling but could not work
them, hopefully due to the high noise level on their end.
Thanks to the NCJ for hosting this perfect venue for exposing more hams to the
Fun of Radiosport!
73 Kevin K7ZS for the PDXRCC.
