Comments:
This was another casual effort mainly to get myself back into thinking CW mode
and gain more familiarity with the K3. Getting to like the little radio more
and more. My radio for roughly the last 18 years has been a FT-1000D which has
done a great job and continues as it's the radio I use for SS.
Hard for me to say much on band conditions as still need to fix rotator on
20/40 which is pointed East. The side mounted 15/10 works fine but with each
at one wavelength above ground there are times I feel need for more height.
Was very pleased to make a few Q's on 10, thought I would make a quick check
just before 20:00Z on Sunday(noon Pacific time) and just heard a second
harmonic from a local, figured that would be the best I would hear, when close
to him I heard something else coming out of the noise a PY didn't work him but
did work a couple of LU's a CX and a HC8.
I'm also thinking of changing my logging program to a windows version, just not
sure which I'll try. I've used TR for many years now and like it but with my
long time win98/dos machine losing a serial port plus if I wanted to try an
assisted class think a windows program would be a better choice. I thought
about this during CQWW CW since my entry was S&P casual, going assisted would
maybe have been a better choice.
Not having repaired the 160 antenna, I won't be in the 160 tests so won't be
trying any of the other tests this year. Will be looking to try the Round Up
hopefully and maybe the ARRL DX to try out new window contest programs.
Certainly expect to be in the WPX at end of March.
Although a bit early I wish all of you out there a Merry Christmas and Happy
New Year.
