It will take a few months to find out who can lay claim to the winner
certificates in HP, LP,and QRP categories.
But I want to lay claim today as the winner in the 'Stupidity" class.
Start of the contest Friday evening I had spent some time locating and 'cq'n '
a spot in low portion of the band.
Since I had been using the freq prior to the contest I did not give any thought
to moving off when a "really big gun" moved in(200 cycles away).
My claim to winner in the 'Stupidity" class, Guys I was too darn stubborn to
move and I spent the entire night under that guy's heel.
Second night was an enjoyable event.
This turned out to be my best effort in a 160 cw contest.
However I'm not without excusses for missing so many calls and for so many
mistakes.
1. Stupitidy
2. power line noise, power company to overhaul six spans next week
3. old man trying to play a young man's game.
It was strictly cq'n and s/p, I did not look at or use any outside help.
If anyone would like to stop by and see the set up, just give us an email and
let us know when you can come by.
Marlene says , "If they want to come by during a 160 meter contest, they don't
need to give prior notice, they ain't gona find us napping" .
Doug, n5ect
Marlene, wd5r
(BTW, Marlene got that call the old fashion way, She passed the 20wpm
fair n' square in 1985)
