RIG: FT1000 mV Field + TL922
ANT: full-wave loop, 40m extension kit (trapped dipole) on ECO tribander
This was intended to be a semi-serious effort, the main goal was to test our
piece of wire for 40m band in some CW contest to see how it really works during
different conditions on the band and if we would be able to call CQ for some
time (which seems to be unlikely in SSB contest so far).
I had to change my plans when my dad (who was running SO/160 from the other
side of the table) decided to quit on early sunday morning because feeling
sick, so the loop had to go down on Sunday afternoon and I was ready to quit on
sunday evening, struggling then with the dipole for a few hours.
I did not expect it would be possible to work 38 zones without cluster from
here with our antennas, but in fact even 39th zone would be possible as well -
have found SU station from #34 on Sunday evening, but obviously he was spotted
right at that time, so before he completed the contact I was listening to,
unbelievable and unpleasant chaos started; this was the final sign I should
quit.
I heard about 7 or 8 more DXCC multipliers, but either they were not calling CQ
or there was again a mad pileup by those with cluster connection and multiplier
stations.
Highlights:
- finding TX3A calling CQ early on Sunday afternoon, luckily before he was
spotted and found by others
- being called by KH6LC, when I already lost my hope to be able to work zone
#31 (and then found another KH6 to confirm this zone mult)
73's to all.
