Comments:

The recent acquisition of a second rig made it possible for me to try SO2R for
the first time. About halfway through the contest I had a computer crash and
was off the air for about 10 minutes. As others have noted 20 and 40 were both
short lived, making most of the contest a slugfest on 80. I was pleasantly
surprised to get 100 QSOs on 80 with my poor antennas, but there were many
times I was beat out when calling a station. My rental house antenna farm
consists of a mini quad, a trap wire vertical for 40 and 80, and an open wire
fed dipole dangling in the trees, all of which are less than 35 feet high. But
I will only be at my current QTH for a few more months. I will upgrade when I
move.

This was the first full-time effort in a contest for me in a long time. I have
been casually active in the last year or two, having returned to the hobby
after a prolonged absence. I believe that I am back to stay. By the way, I sign
my middle name Jeff in NAQP and Sprint as I’ve found my first name to be a
difficult CW copy.

73, Erik N5WR
