Comments:

QRP (as always) in this one. My intent was to focus on 80 and 40 since I had
some conflicts and wasn't going to be able to go "full-bore" and about 2/3 of
my op time was spent on those two bands. I was successful in picking up 10 or
12 all-time new band countries on the low bands.
Conditions on 80 and 40 seemed pretty good, especially the first night. 15 was
flaky early Sunday afternoon - reminiscent of 10 meters (at least what I
remember!) and I wasn't able to pick up a couple Caribbean mults. 15 was very
quiet, but signal levels weren't too great this far north and I wasn't able to
crack the pile-ups. On the other hand, despite the noise on 80 and 40,
persistence and great ears on the part of the many stations allowed me to
complete QSO's with some stations that I thought would be about impossible from
here with 5 watts to a dipole. Thanks guys!
Special thanks to VQ9RD who I was lucky enough to stumble across on 20 and he
finally pulled me through. I din't spend much time on 20, but conditions to
Europe and Japan seemed pretty decent. Again, a lot of good ops out there with
good antennas and receivers. I know who makes a tough QRP QSO possible - the
guy on the other end! Thanks for your patience on the fills and repeats!
See you in the SSB version - problably going to run 20 single band - QRP of
course. 20 meters QRP from Minnesota - I love a challenge!

Station: Yaesu FT-897D at 5 watts out to a Wilson SY-3 three element tribander
at 50' and a tuned dipole fed with twin lead.

73,
Randy, ND0C - Exclusively QRP (You don't have to be crazy ... but it helps.)
