Comments:

SOAPBOX: This was a pleasant change, with better conditions
SOAPBOX: than last year. I had more QSOs and more mults than
SOAPBOX: last year, but not quite as good as 2007. So maybe
SOAPBOX: last year represented a bottom in my DXing fortunes.
SOAPBOX:
SOAPBOX: The JAs were out in force this time, giving me 99 JA
SOAPBOX: QSOs across all the bands but 10m. The next largest
SOAPBOX: QSO total came from the KH6 gang, followed by KL7.
SOAPBOX: KL7RA was the first station I worked on all bands,
SOAPBOX: 160m through 15m. No QSOs with anyone on 10m.
SOAPBOX:
SOAPBOX: Based on past years, I didn't expect a great points
SOAPBOX: total, but I was pleasantly surprised as the weekend
SOAPBOX: went along. It was fun watching the score slowly ramp
SOAPBOX: up as I S&Ped my way through the bands. CQing is a
SOAPBOX: total waste of time at QRP levels. I find stations
SOAPBOX: will make an effort to work me if I call them, even
SOAPBOX: if it takes several repeats. Nobody stops to check
SOAPBOX: out a whisper-strength CQ though.
SOAPBOX:
SOAPBOX: Being an S&P operator, I don't worry about rate, but
SOAPBOX: it was fun to see a few good hours. I had one hour
SOAPBOX: of 19 Qs, one at 18, one at 14, one at 11, and three
SOAPBOX: at 10. All the rest were in single digits. My worst
SOAPBOX: hour was 04Z 2/22 with only one QSO.
SOAPBOX:
SOAPBOX: It was great to work some European stations for a
SOAPBOX: change. I caught OH, DL, F, G, EA, EA8, CT, CT9,
SOAPBOX: D4 and OM. Not bad for having to work through the
SOAPBOX: east coast wall of noise. Of course, there were others
SOAPBOX: that I called, but no cigar.
SOAPBOX:
SOAPBOX: I really need to figure out a better 20m antenna than the
SOAPBOX: 40m dipole I run as two half-waves in phase on 20m. I'm
SOAPBOX: limited by my lot size, but I'll have to see what I can do
SOAPBOX: within my space limits. There is definitely a need for some
SOAPBOX: creativity here :-)
SOAPBOX:
SOAPBOX: Anyway, a fun time. Thanks to all for the QSOs, especially
SOAPBOX: those of you who had to work with me through several repeats.
SOAPBOX: 73 and See You in the Contest!
SOAPBOX: Bob N6WG
SOAPBOX: The Little Station with Attitude
