All S&P - a chance to have some fun with my new LP-PAN panadapter. The PowerSDR
+ LP-Bridge software supports point and click tuning in the panadapter display,
but after a while I realized that using this was actually distracting me and
slowing me down. Simply tuning with the radio while watching the panadapter
display works better for me. I tried both PowerSDR and Rocky software - I think
I like Rocky's display better. Too bad neither of them integrates with the N1MM
bandmap (yet)!

I noticed a few times that I was operating within a kHz or so of VE3IAE. He
lives about a mile from me (big signal here!), so it was very obvious on the
panadapter display when this was happening. However, if I hadn't had the
panadapter, I would not have realized that he was there - the 500 Hz roofing
filter in the K3 really does its job well.

There was some discussion recently on the reflectors about MMTTY's IIR vs. FIR
decoders. I tried them both in parallel for a little while, but found that they
performed almost identically. There seemed to be a bigger difference between
MMVARI and MMTTY than there was between the two MMTTY decoders, so for
diversity reception I think I will stick with the MMTTY/MMVARI pair.
