Comments:

A part-time effort throughout the weekend. Great conditions except that my two
best bands were pretty much useless due to the QRN.

I don't have a tribander (just wires) but it appears that the TS category is
most appropriate for me.

99% of contacts were S&P. I'm just not strong enough to run EU with my setup.

I operated this contest from 7J1AAI last year, so it was interesting to operate
from this side of the pond this year. I only managed to work two JAs: JF1SQC
on 40 and JH4UYB on 20. Strange that it was much harder to work 'UYB than
'SQC.

It's nice to have something to copy in the exchange and I really enjoy working
the many excellent EU ops. It's especially fun to copy cut numbers but it
seemed like very few Europeans were using them, at least when running the US.
I suspect that all of the griping about cut numbers from some US ops on the
contest reflector has convinced many EU ops that W's just can't handle cut
numbers: be sure to slow down and avoid cut numbers for those Americans! Too
bad. I always thought that part of being an Amateur was trying to improve your
operating skills. Is it really that hard to learn to copy three or four
abbreviations?

Next on the agenda: IARU in July. CU then.

73, Hal W1NN
