Echo K5ZD's comments almost to a T!

I generally don't like this contest too much because of Sunday but even after
getting off to a super slow start (only 4 contacts in the first 5 minutes) I
was 75 contacts ahead of last year at the sleep break. Thanks to all the
promoting efforts and all the newbies to make this one a lot better. It seemed
like 10% of the Q's were new stations to this contest. Since normally this
contest is so predictable it is almost like work but not as much this year.

Conditions were probably about the best we could have hoped for, good skip
zones and no QRN. Listened several times to 160 but only heard a couple
stations and only one was a new one.

Leading zero's in the serial numbers-I really hate this and it makes copying
the number so much harder on weaker stations. I brought this up before in a DX
contest and had several replies that they liked the leading zero's as a place
holder but I disagree. Can we make an effort to contact the s/w people and see
if this can be an option to be turned off for SS. I'll contact Tree about this
:). I used TR and had to reboot only one time near the end, for me it is the
best program for SO2R and SS-thanks Tree.

I was amazed at the number of stations that when answering a CQ would send my
call before they sent the exchange. This is a requiremnet in the sprint and I
am thinking it is becoming a very good idea. This was pioneered by N6RO. I
have not noticed this before this year-how did this come about? I know it
really helps log accuracy.

My last 4 sections were PR, Wtx, Ne and NT. I was a little worried about NT
since I never heard any pileups and I don't call CQ on 20 much because of low
rates from here. Finally VE8EV called me at 2035z on 20-thanks again.
