Comments:

First ever serious effort in this contest. It wasn’t until a few minutes ago
when looking at the 3830 entries, that I realized that single operators were
NOT limited to 36 hours. I wonder where I got the notion of a 36 hour limit.
Next time I will read the rules carefully, although I’m not sure I could have
spent more time productively in the chair.

Lots and lots of S&P here.

Highlights:
-- Making contacts with stations with much longer CW calls than W7YAQ:
     JK2VOC/BA4TB, VP2V/DL7VOG, CE0Y/SM6CUK, and (my favorite) 8N1YT70Y/1
-- Being called by P29CW 2 minutes before the end of the contest – just about
the only non-JA response to a CQ
-- Finding TX3A on 4 bands, usually hanging out quietly just above the low band
edge
-- All the activity from Africa, and zones 7, 8, and 9; and from our VE friends
to the north
-- Working DXCC in a weekend

Lowlights:
-- Only 12.6 percent EU QSOs. Note to Zone 5 guys – Working JAs from Zone 3
doesn’t compensate!
-- Eastern EU, Mideast, UA9 missing from log. No zone 20, 21, 22, 34, six zone
16, one zone 17, two zone 18 Qs. Heard but missed zone 39 (5R8ZO, VQ99JC).
-- Only 1 EU on 15 meters (CR2X)
-- Sticky rotator. It took lots of control box CW/CCW rocking to move by end
of contest

Rig:
K3 at 100 watts

Ants:
160: MA160V short top-loaded vertical
80: Inv V at 65 feet
40-10: 3-el Steppir with 30/40 trombone dipole at 70 feet

73 and thanks for the fun and QSOs,
Bob W7YAQ
