Icom IC-7000
Butternut Vertical on the beach.
Ground-fed Sloper for 160 mtrs.
I started the test out trying for a single band 160 High Power but after 5
hours, the Centurion Amplfier blew black smoke. I was really cooking on 160
with 140 qso's, 7 zones and 18 countries in the first few hours until the amp
went south. I then had to rethink my stategy and decided to go to bed and do a
Single Band Low Power effort on 15 mtrs and what a ride it was.
With my vertical sitting right on the beach it really played. The result was
1887 qso's, 29 zones and 101 countries from an IC-7000 and a vertical. I wonder
what I could have done with a 5 element yagi at 75' and 1500w? All this was done
at this part of the cycle.
My log from the first night will be sent in as a check log.
