Comments:

First, our deepest heartfelt sympathies go out to all the families and friends
of the C6APR team. Such a tragedy on what was to be a great weekend outting.
>From the LCC and DeltaDX Association members, our thoughts and prayers go with
you. (Our team member, K1DW, Dallas, had many conversations with W3PP over the
years, since they shared the same name.)

Re the contest - well we had fun.. And thank goodness I got my amp back from
Alpha the day before (they repaired a blown bandswitch wafer - thanks Molly)..
And my 30S-1 has been temperamental every since CQWW RTTY - it needs some TLC.
Anyway, this contest has been just an ad hoc effort for us, as we can't seem to
field operators for the full 48 hours. I had an invite to go to George NR5M's
QTH, but just couldn't make it.. Congrats to all the OPs there.. Having lived
in Houston, Texas for 16 years, you couldn't make better friends and eat better
BBQ!!!

On Saturday, we played host to a new visitor to our area, John, KI6BEN and gave
him some seat time.. It was obvious he was having a ball.. He expressed how
wonderful it was to hear EU so loud as compared to his QTH in California. Glad
he stopped by to pay us a visit - and the Ghiridelli chocolates gift didn't hurt
either!! We repaid him with pizza! Some trade, right?

Well, after seeing all the comments re the 80M one-way paths, I don't feel so
bad.. I listened as W0AIH struggled to make a EU QSO Friday evening, couldn't
and figured, well if they can't do it, what shot do I have? The low bands are
not very kind to us down here.. Gave up about midnight or so and went to bed..
One thing I noted is that now that the broadcasters are gone for the most part
between 7125-7200, as expected, everyone crowded in that 75Khz. Was that an
improvement???

On Saturday I started again on 40M about 6AM, then went to 20M and 15M as the
bands openned before the stateside QRM would kill us. K1DW joined me about
8AM, John arrived at 10AM and they both worked 15M, which was great.. We should
have tried running but we couldn't find a clear spot for 250Khz!! Geez, was it
busy!! And later 20M was its usual madhouse.. Here the QRM level with splatter
was pretty consistently 10-20dB over S-9.

At about 6PM Saturday, I was back at it solo. I S&P'd for about another 6
hours or so until I got tired and called it a night.. Unfortunately, had early
Sunday commitments, so got in a few hours in the AM and then a few hours before
the contest ended..

Looks like we missed good a openning on 10M on Saturday.. We got there too late
and the band was going out. Missed the Sunday openning entirely. I feel we
could have posted better numbers there had we been more focused..

Thanks to all for making this contest enjoyable, frustrating, interesting,
etc., etc., etc....

73,
Ted (KN5O), Dallas (K1DW) and John (KI6BEN)
