Comments:
I constructed a homebrew 2 element 10 meter beam on Friday and got it up in the
air about 30 ft. It matched on the low end of the band with the initial
settings, and just worked after that. I worked everyone I could hear, and got
many calls from stations really down in the mud.
I'll bet I worked 30 PY stations, several in the Caribbean, Mexico, and Canada
station, as well as Ecuador, Argentina, Chili, and a VK station.
Too bad we couldn't count the states in Brazil for multipliers.
VK4IU was coming in long path. I kept swinging the beam around, but it was
strongest straight east.
The bottom fell out of the band Saturday night. Probably the solar event from
last week. I noticed the noise on my G5RV went over S9, and itâs a very
quiet antenna normally.
I had lots of noise on Sunday as well, but the K3 NB took it all out. It was
fun watching the propagation move back and forth along the east coast. I would
work FL then GA, then MD, and then into the Midwest and Canada, then back to
FL.
N4BP was loud the entire contest, except for Saturday night. I didnât hear a
single station on the entire band, so I went to bed.
I had a couple of very nice runs. One on Friday night, and then Sunday
afternoon.
I made 97 Qs on Friday night and had a run of over 100 on Sunday afternoon.
Totals: 282 Qs, 49 Sections, 55,272 points CW Only.
Great fun!!!
