Comments:

A strange day topped off by a better contest than I expected. Several things
detracted from approaching the Sprint properly. I got up at 4:30 this morning
and had a very busy day. Never got a nap and made two lengthy trips into town
and back. Ended up watching the Virginia Tech-Clemson basketball game on
Raycom.com on the computer (Sorry, Greg, N3ZL, about the result from Clemson's
end) and was very happy with the VT win.

Finally got to the radio room twenty five minutes before the Sprint. Everything
was OK, and I had tried the station out last night in the NCCC practice session.
I was tired and was concerned that I would fade and/or lose concentration. But
that didn't happen. I did experience some equipment stuff that was a problem.
The amp for 40 meters decided not to put out any power for a while, and I
noticed the output power was 100 Watts. I turned it off and back on and it
seemed to be okay after that. But there is some sort of gremlin and it will
reappear.

Another little gremlin was repeated RFI between 40 and 20, so it was hard to
transmit on 40 and listen on 20 meters and that hurt the SO2R efficiency some.
That came and went and came and went.

I had to take one family phone call in the middle of the Sprint, and just
barely got in the QSO with Ralph, N5RZ, before I jumped up and took the call.
That cost a little time, but not much. I tried to focus on 20 meters and gave
up some contacts on 40, hoping to be able to get them back, and that appears to
be the case, as the 40 meter number was good. Stations kept answering the
inactive radio CQs right to the end, but I finished the contest more or less
SO1Ring on 80 looking for KO7X and flitting up and down the band every five KHz
and calling CQs.

Missed Wyoming, and only heard KO7X one time, and out of sequence. Only heard
WD0T one time and that was when he called me. Tnx. In general, mults were down.
42 is my lowest in some time. Did get W1WBB in RI for a nice one. But in general
my mults are way down.

80 meters was quiet as a little church mouse here. Very nice conditions.

Has two FOC guys call me and give me FOC numbers, so that's what I logged.

TV Bob and Trey, N5KO, plus the W6YI operator and of course N2IC had big
numbers. Congrats. Very impressive. Ralph was not at K5TR so that was a little
break for me. However Larry, K5OT, sounded very good at the powerhouse on the
hill in Blanco County. Ditto the NR5M station to my SE and K5MR in North Texas.

It's a thrill to operate in the Sprint and thanks to all the great CW operators
for the contacts.
