Comments:

What fun! Although at the start of the contest I did not think I would finish
where I do because of some issues between the rig, interface and logging
program. Thankfully N6DE, W6XX and W6SX (all of NCCC) helped me out via the
reflector and after missing the better part of 3 hours I was into the contest.

While this is the first time putting in a full 30 hour effort into WPX I
consulted Ed, P49X to help with my strategy. While I had good intentions to
take advantage of 40/80M because of the scoring I really did not work those
bands as much as I probably should have. This meant that 20M ended up being my
workhorse band, but with some good openings to EU and AS I kept busy.
Unfortunately I was never really able to put a worthwhile run together, then
again who needs a W6? Approximately 90% of my QSOs were S&P with very short
runs on 15/20M.

All in all I was very pleased with my score, as I went right by my goals of 500
QSOs, 245 PFX and a final score of 242,000. The challenge for next year will be
to improve on these numbers, which means turning my attention to SO2R or
working on improving my low band antennas in order to take a better advantage
of the point scoring.

Equipment: Yaesu FT-1000MP
Antennas: 5-band hex beam at 20' (10/15/20M) & SteppIR BigIR Mk III (40/80M)
