Comments:

Thanks to everyone that worked us!!! We have been in the top five in this
contest every time we have entered. We have been blessed with a couple of first
places. It is a good contest for us but it is changing and for the better as
more and more countries are now on RTTY on a regular bases so it will get
tougher and tougher for us even though over-all it is a good thing(more below).
This was our best score ever, we were more than pleased. I hope we can make the
top five yet once again but it is never easy!!! It was -20 F. and the 40 meter
rotor would not turn other than that everything worked.

It seems like all the contests other than SS depends on working DX and as you
go west and north in the USA it is a severe handicap. I see some to the east
and southeast of here have reported working 73 DX countries to our 59. We
worked everything we heard or seen spotted other than Thailand. We just did
not have propagation with the other 13 countries. I think our 3 element 40
meter beam at 200 feet rather than 70 feet might of snared a few more
countries. The over the aurora flutter was bad on 20M. It always boils down to
what I have said you could give me or a lot of others a million dollars to
build a station and we could not place that high because of propagation. I
think it was Bill Orr who said "Propagation is the great equalizer". Anyway
to those of you in the middle of the country and west I like to read your
comments and thank you for getting in there year after year when you don't have
a chance to make the top five because of the DX multipliers no matter how much
work and money you put into your station.

For the life of me I just don't understand "IMHO" why there is the
six band change rule for multi-op. I thought one of the reasons for contests
was to increase activity and in this contest where you can work people over on
each band there were lots and lots more people we could of worked when we
looked with the second radio. In SS you can do Multi-op and jump between
bands as much as you want. The single op. in this contest can jump back and
forth as much as they want. Us like a lot of others are "burning up" the air
ways calling CQ and we could just as well be working people with the second
radio during the dead time but we are limited to 3 a hour. If we go on another
band for much more than one QSO we lose our CQ frequency. I just don't
understand where this rule came from? It is so "weird" as the single operators
in this contest can consistently work more people than the multi-ops. It sure
would be a lot more fun if we could work a lot more people. I just makes no
sense to me when the single op's can do it and the multi-op's can not.

80M 1/4 wave vertical, 135 radials, drooping dipoles at 170 and 80 feet and
beverages

40M 3 elem beam at 70 feet, rotor frozen NW, 2 element quad fixed east,
diamond
shaped, top at 120 feet, average 90 feet.

20m 4 elements stacked at 60 and 145 feet, can rotate and feed independently
and used TH-11 for 3rd direction

15m 5 elem and 3 elem stacked at 55 feet and 105 feet, can rotate and feed
independently

10M we have lots of hardware but no signals to work with

Use two Elecraft K3's and Alpha 99 and homebrew 8877
