Comments:

Started the contest with low power and after 1/2 hour without any replies
decided to QRO and try to have some fun. My goal was to break 1000 Q's and
maybe even 1,000,000 points and 100 countries. Got the first but fell 125K
short of the second and short 21 countries on the third. Everything worked
well especially the 10 Beverages and my old TV station Dynair Video push button
selector switch which replaced cranking around the 3 rotary switches on RX. On
Saturday night I had about a 45 minute squall along with incessant rain static.
Also there was a point where signals shifted directions to east for Europe for
about an hour. though my 20 and 45 degree Beverages had failed but that was not
the case as later the signal paths were back to normal. When 4X4WN and C4M
called me they were stronger than East coast big guns. I missed South Dakota
but got everything else except NWT. Also missed some easy Europeans like LZ,
9H1, HB, YO, IS, SV, and CU but it is hard to search when there is always a
bunch of callers needing the Virgin Islands. At times I had trouble holding a
frequency with East Coast big guns listen only on Eu Beverages before starting
to call CQ. Next time I will put the MFJ-1026 in line and try to null them
with an East coast Beverage. Major highlight for me was logging WAC in under 2
hours the first night but without SD there was no hope in getting under my
previous 50 state WAS in under 4 hours.
