Comments:
FT1000MP, 100W, zepp, dipole. I had been monitoring 15M CW earlier and had
heard no signals. Was amazed when KZ5D and NO3M came through at 0228Z. Tried
to shift quickly from a 40M dipole to the 88' center fed zepp. Got a ragged
start on 15. Then thought that the old NA logging program was logging the 15M
QSOs on 80M, so went into the setup and disconnected computer control. Turned
out afterward that, except for the very first QSO, NA was logging the correct
15M freuencies, but showing them in the contest program as on 80. So, would
have been better to have just left it set up the way it was. Well, hope I'll
remember the next time we add 15M. 15M was OK to most of the eastern part of
the US in as close as N1LN in NC, who had the strongest signal. 20, 40, and 80
had seemed good during SNS, but I couldn't get anything going on 20 and 40 in
NS. Some signals (N4DW on 20M) were very strong, but most were weaker than
usual. The west coast was very weak on 20. Never could get untracked.
Welcome to K1ZR, Shane in NH, heard, but not worked. And to KH6/N6DA Don who
had the strongest signal on 20 behind N4DW. KE3X, Ken, who with his son had
dinner with the NS group in Dayton this year was giving out the "DC"
multiplier. My logging program wouldnt take it (had to log "MD). I don't
think NA Sprint or the NS series recognizes "DC" as a muliplier separate from
MD. This needs to be clarified for Ken and for the rest of us before the new
Ladder begins next week. 73, John, K4BAI.
