Thanks to Matt for letting us invade the station for the weekend. This was a
low-key effort with two full-time ops and the others part-time due to other
commitments. Thanks to all for putting time in on a holiday weekend!

WPX is always a fun run-fest. While conditions were very poor this time
around, this hobby is always fun! A good M/2 will probably be close since
there were rarely 3 bands really open.

Great effort by the NQ4I M/M team - Rick and I were comparing scores throughout
the weekend.

Highlights:

- New era at the KC1XX station...we just retired our old DOS computers and
installed new Windows XP machines running Win-Test 4 and K1EL WinKeyers. CT
served us exceptionally well for almost 18 years of KC1XX operations at two
QTH's. Kudos to K1EA for doing such a FB job so early on and setting the bar
high for other software authors - from a DOS environment no less!

- 40 and 20 were the money bands, and 80 wasn't too bad. Not much heard from
EU on 80 before local sunset this time of year and of course EU sunrise comes
early!

- Reverse beacon network was fun to watch, cut over new (wireless) internet
connection on the hill and tested great all weekend.

- Sunday was a bit better on the high bands but nothing even approaching
blistering rates - activity also seemed kind of down, probably because of the
poor condx.

Lowlights:

- Hardly any JA. JA is a polar path for us and you know what that meant this
weekend!

- Stations who plop down and start CQing without even asking (or listening) if
the freq is in use. There are a few ops who do this contest after contest. We
seem to attract them like flies. And usually end up having to swat them like
flies. :-)
