Comments:

Wow, that was fun. First real test for new antennas here. Still using a dipole
for 80, but otherwise most contest antennas were operational for this one. Last
year 20 m was super fun but the fun ended when the sun went down. This year on
40 it just kept going and going. Stayed on 7027 for most of the night. Almost
all 80m QSOs except for for a few brief runs were on the second radio.

Hearing the gigantic piles and super signal from KL7RA will always make this a
memorable contest. What a station and what an operator. Top ten from KL7?
That accomplishment will stand a long time.

I was quite worried that my 40m yagi would be too high (160 feet) for
stateside, but at least this weekend it was OK. Sunday night was awful -- only
signals on 20 were bone-crushingly loud W5's. It was a strategic mistake to
take off time in the afternoon, I now realize. I'll bank that experience for
the next one.

Pretty much to the "what me worry?" approach to sections. Working VY1EI early
helped in that respect. Last one was NP4Z, thanks Felipe! But the increment
to score from working the last section is pretty marginal. Certainly not
enough to pervert your overall strategy.

You can't say Montana wasn't active this contest!
